Im Jahre 2003
Mein heutiges Wissen uber den Dorfnamen bis 1945 Quanzendorf (heutiger polnischer Name Chwalecin ca. 180 Einwohner), ca. 100 km unterhalb Breslau.
Einem jungen sehr gut deutsch sprechenden Gymnasiasten ubersandte ich meine Unterlagen, er opferte einen Ferientag und fuhr dorthin.
2003 war er zu Besuch bei einer Tante in Ffm., er fand folgendes heraus:
Im 13. Jahrhundert war in Quanzendorf ein Schloss, es gehorte einem Grafen ober Baron “von Quanz”, ihm gehorte auch ganz Schlesien mit seinen gesamten Leibeigenen.
Welch eine Enttauschung fur den Schreiber. Er hatte gelernt vor Gott sind alle Menschen gleich.
Diese
Erkenntnisse sind auch der Anlass, dass ich meine Ahnenforschung hiermit
beende.

To the best of my knowledge the current Polish village of Chwalecin was known as Quanzendorf until 1945. The village today has about 180 inhabitants and is approximately 100 km below Breslau (Wroclaw).
A young very well spoken German high school student sacrificed one day of his holidays and drove there in 2003 for a visit with an aunt in Ffm. He found out the following:
In the 13th century, there was a castle in the village of Quanzen. The castle belonged to Count “Baron von Quanz” as did the surrounding area of Schlesien and the serfs who lived there.
What an one “eye-opener” for the writer. He had learned before God that all people are the same.
These findings are also the occasion that herewith I finish my ancestoral research.

Quanzendorf was a small village in the north west of Germany that had been a part of Germany for centuries until the borders were redrawn at the end of World War II when this area was turned over to Poland. The name was changed to Chwalecin.
The village was named after Baron von Quanz who lived there in the 13th Century.

Wer erinnert sich noch an
Quanzendorf im Kreis Reichenbach, das kleine romantische Dörfchen am Fuße des
Eichberges?
Von Groß-Wilkau ging man etwa
zwei Kilometer über eine bergige Landstraße, die von Kirsch- und Apfelbäumen
gesäumt war. Besonders zur Baumblüte war das ein wunderschöner Spaziergang.
Hatte man den letzten Hügel, den sogenannten „Treppla Berg“ erstiegen, sah man
Quanzendorf im Tal liegen. Es gab ein Dominium, etliche Bauerngehöfte und ein
Kretscham. Quanzendorf hatte 1939 rund 186 Einwohner. Heute mögen es noch etwa
60 Personen sein. Von den Häusern im Dorf sind viele verschwunden. Auch vom
Dominium existiert nur noch das Wohnhaus des ehemaligen Besitzers Heinze. Am
Ende des Dorfes ging es über die sogenannte „Matritzke“ nach Großkniegnitz. Von
der Anhöhe sah man das Dorf Senitz und im Hintergrund den Zobten. Quanzendorf
war wegen seiner landschaftlich schönen Lage besonders im Sommer ein Ziel für
Wanderer und Wochenendausflügler.

Who still remembers Quanzendorf in
Kreis Reichenbach, the small romantic Doerfchen at the foot of the Eichberges
mountain?
From large Wilkau one went
about two kilometers over a hilly highway, which was gesaeumt of Kirsch and
apple trees. Particularly during blossoming time that was a beautiful walk. As
we climbed the last hill, called, “Treppla mountain” we saw Quanzendorf lying
in the valley. It gave a Dominium, some farmsteads and a Kretscham. Quanzendorf
had approximately 186 inhabitants in 1939. Today there may still be about 60
people living there. Many of the houses in the village have disappeared. Also
of the Dominium only the house of the former owner Heinze exists. At the end of
the village it went over the so-called “Matritzke” after Grosskniegnitz. From
the hill one saw the village Senitz and in the background Zobten. Quanzendorf
was particularly because of its landschaftlich beautiful situation in the
summer a goal for wanderer and Wochenendausfluegler.
